Let’s all come down to a very simple aspect-healthy living that is associated with organic farming for chickens. We all want healthy living and disease prevention. One way to live healthily is by eating healthy chickens or naturally raised chickens. And if you want to encourage healthy living, it may be worth the time for organic poultry farming.
Can I raise commercially organic chickens?
Truth is, I’m not going to advise anyone to start big scale organic poultry farming. You have to start small and grow out of that. The reason is, it can be overwhelming to think about gathering herbs but don’t get me wrong. And it pays off!
So, you’ll find it easy when you start with a few hundred chickens, instead of having to struggle to find herbs in large amounts.
Many farms in which farm organic chicken have their own pasture. That allows them to provide the desired plants and shrubs to their organic chickens.
Can I grow all the herbs I need for organic poultry cultivation?
Trust me, you can find near you the majority of the herbs you‘ll need. Yet that isn’t to suggest they’re all waiting at your doorstep. In the event that some of them are not so close to you, all you need is ask around. If you belong to a community of farmers like mine, you may be able to get some herbs through others.
My advice is to buy large quantities of herbs that aren’t found near you.
Do I have to use a pasture for the chickens that are naturally raised?
Indeed, organic chickens require free-range, but without a pasture, you can have chickens raised naturally too. They can’t be called organic chickens but are raised naturally.
This has already settled the justification for doing organic poultry farming for health. In Nigeria today, there is a growing number of farmers rearing naturally raised chickens, especially broiler chickens. That means you can have chickens raised naturally using herbs and spices with your cages and deep litter.
Will I get Organic Product Substitutes?
I will give that a really loud YES. You can actually get Natural Growth Proponents for your broilers too. There’s plenty you can get when you raise your chickens naturally. You can also get them in within eight weeks to reach a weight of over 3.5 KG as discussed here.
So, organic chicken farming seems to be the new RIGHT in town for whatever question you might throw. And if not for anything else, then we deserve to feed well.
